Road trip to Los Angeles

We decided to take a road trip on the day before Halloween, and I was scrambling to make preparations. I am a planner by nature and felt ill-prepared for the adventure ahead. Luckily, my husband is spontaneous and loves spur-of-the-moment events. My grandmother is in town and it seemed like good timing to go out of town for a little while.

Four hours and a headache after our start, it seemed as though the trip had been worth it. We were on the pacific coast and it was gorgeous. Now, I have been to California a few times before, but it seemed so much more interesting on this trip because we could share the experience with someone new.
Maybe I jumped the gun in thinking that all was well in vacationland. We were driving along Hollywood Blvd. and could not find one parking spot closer than five blocks away from the theaters. Even so, driving along the sights and taking pictures that way seemed far more appealing than dragging out a stroller, and a sleepy baby, and walking for a mile just to see everything up close.

We drove along the PCH and enjoyed the ocean breeze at the Santa Monica pier. It was so peaceful and calming. Actually, it might have been TOO calming since we were then going to drive another four hours BACK to Las Vegas.
All in all, it was nice to get away from home and work and just enjoy being with my family. Next time, though, I think it would be worth it to fly and get a hotel for the night. That way, my little angel could take a rest before having to be in his car seat for an indecent amount of time.....
